Summer Vacation 2011 - Part 2

Day two. We left Kansas City and headed for Sioux Falls. The drive was fairly quick although we did have to detour a bit because of flooding on whatever highway runs between the two places (I seriously have no clue about such things). ;-)

Anyway, we immediately hit the hotel and rested a bit. After a while we headed out to find Sioux Falls park. A wrong turn or two later, we ended up at the U.S.S. South Dakota Battleship Memorial. I have no earthly clue as to why I didn't grab my camera out of the car....I suppose I thought it would be boring.

It was actually pretty neat and they had a ton of old photos, model ships (some big, some small), some authentic flags (including a Nazi one), tons of memorabilia from the ship and lots of cool stuff for the kids to check out.

After that, we headed to Sioux Falls and it was gorgeous! We spend the rest of the late afternoon on the grounds there....just enjoying the scenery and climbing on rocks.









After we left the falls, we headed to dinner and then went swimming at the hotel. We went to bed early because we knew day three was a long car day! :-) Check back for part 3 later....
